Mr. Simon V. Avara purchased International Academy of Hair Design & Technology, located at the corner of Pratt and Stricker streets in Baltimore City, in 1960, opening to students shortly thereafter. Our objective is to prepare students for the Maryland State Barber Examination by giving professional clinical and theory training in all areas of Barbering. Over the years our student body has continued to grow through the referrals of our graduates and through our reputation of a quality barbering-stylist school. Avara’s Academy of Hair Design and International Academy of Hair Design & Technology is family owned and operated.
